It’s a wild, different, quirky festival that’s now taking over the Marigny. Fringe Fest is back for a 5th year and Vanessa Bolano gives you an inside look.
It’s something you probably wouldn’t be able to see anywhere else. There are 68 off the wall acts with performers from both near and far all in town now for Fringe Fest.
Kristen Evans says, “We’ve come a long way from a scrappy festival that started as an idea to bring theater groups to perform along St. Claude Avenue and five years later a scrappy start we’re still a very grassroots organization, but we have presented over 250 performing groups, we have presented over 800 performances, five parades, two yard art tours, and we have had over 30,000 people attend Fringe performances and activities over the past five years.”
Fringe Fest wraps up on Sunday. Tickets are $8 a show, or you can get an all access pass for $99.
“Everything from dance, puppetry, multimedia, we have two operas, drama, comedy, musical theater. Absolutely something for everybody,” says Evans.
