Deputies Stage Large Manhunt For Wanted Suspect

kaunda mageeThe Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office is on the hunt for a suspect wanted for robbery, rape, attempted murder and kidnapping.

Officers say Kaunda Magee, 36, fled into the woods near Kentwood on Thursday afternoon around 4, while being chased by Washington Parish deputies on foot. Magee, who is considered armed and dangerous, was wearing a white shirt and black jeans and has gold teeth.

TPSO deputies, mounted deputies and the Special Response Team set up a command post Thursday afternoon near the Tangipahoa River and spent the night and Friday morning searching for Magee. A number of other agencies have joined the search, including the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, Franklinton Police, Probation and Parole, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Wile Life and Fisheries, Raburn Correctional and Amite Fire.

Magee was wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated rape, kidnapping, criminal damage to property and four counts of attempted murder on a police officer.
